The Board of Trustees of Samuel Adegboyega University, Ogwa (SAU) led by the President of The Apostolic Church Nigeria and the Chancellor of Samuel Adegboyega University, Pastor (Dr.) G.O. Olutola paid a visit to the State Governor at the State house on Wednesday, January 19, 2016.
The Chancellor appreciated the State Governor for his support and contribution rendered to Samuel Adegboyega University since inception. He said that the immense contribution of the state governor towards the advancement of the state, particularly in education has not gone unnoticed. The President of The Apostolic Church Nigeria informed Oshiomole that the Governing Council and Management of SAU have deemed it fit to honour him with Honorary Doctorate Degree Honoris Causa in Public Administration in appreciation of his contribution to Edo State in particular and Nigeria in general.
In his response, the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomole, appreciated the University Governing Council and Management for honouring him with the award. While congratulating the University on the occasion of its Maiden Convocation Ceremony, the State Governor expressed his excitement at the fact that what started a few years back as a university is already producing high level man-power and helping the growth and development, not only the host community, Ogwa or Edo State but the entire nation.
The Governor praised the quality of leadership and the amount of sacrifice the Church and Management have made to see the University through, to be able to graduate its first set of graduates and to sustain the mission and vision of the university.
Adams Oshiomole commended the courage and the commitment of the leadership of SAU towards their quest to providing quality education for the people. He said, considering the location of the institution, he has a great conviction in his heart that SAU is not primarily profit making but to produce high level man-power and helping the growth and development of the nation.
The Governor concluded that if he was to go by Nigeria geo-politics, when you have Adegboyega, which appears to be someone from the South West, choosing to locate a university in Edo State, nothing shows greater conviction about the oneness of our people and the need to see beyond narrow ethnic, religious and primordial sentiment in contributing to the growth and development of Nigeria, that SAU is preaching. He pledged his continual support for Samuel Adegboyega University.
