A total of 112 students took the Matriculation Oath for the 2017/2018 Academic Session during the 8th Matriculation Ceremony held at the Pastor John Aluko Babatope Hall on Friday, 26th January, 2018.
After the singing of the SAU Anthem, the Registrar, Bamidele Olotu, JP, introduced the Vice Chancellor and his entourage. This includes the Bursar, University Librarian, all Deans and HODs.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Benard Eronmonsele Aigbokhan, JP, in his address, on behalf of Senate, staff and students of the Samuel Adegboyega University (SAU), welcomed all to this year matriculation ceremony. He congratulated all the applicants that have been admitted into the university for the 2017/2018 academic session on the choice of SAU for a unique experience in their quest for tertiary education. He guaranteed them that the education they will get in the university would prepare them for global competitiveness and well-rounded personality.
Professor Eronmonsele encouraged the matriculants to be obedient to the already established rules and regulations of the university and urged them to shun vices throughout their stay in the university and beyond. He urged them not to disappoint their parents who have invested so much on them and encouraged them to participate in social activities such as sports.
The Vice-Chancellor drew the attention of everyone at the occasion to the increasing wave of insecurity and incessant wanton killings of innocent lives that seem to characterize Nigeria polity. Professor Ben condemned in the strongest term the lawless, barbaric, wicked and uncivilized killings in the twenty-first century and urged parents to continue praying for divine intervention and peace in our country. He reminded the government at various levels that the primary purpose of governance is the protection of lives and properties.
The newly admitted students were full of joy and happiness as they heartily sang the SAU and National anthems
